Police Play Capture the American Flag Against Iraq War Vet

In a shockingly egregious abuse of the First Amendment and probably some other laws, police in Wisconsin illegally trespassed onto a businessman’s property to confiscate the American flag he was flying upside down in a liquor license protest. With the advice of the local Constitution-hating district attorney, four officers removed the Stars and Stripes hours before a 4th of July parade and returned it the following day. The man happened to be an Iraq War veteran which always seems to make it even more shameful. |Washington Post|

ALANY Moves To Extinguish College Smoking State Wide

Although the America Lung Association of New York has succeeded in stamping out cigarette smoking in college dorms, the clean air junkies aren’t stopping there and are now jockeying for a ‘curb to curb’ ban on smokeable tobacco for every college/university state wide. As of right now, there’s 14 campuses that are entirely smokefree and only 5 holdouts that still sell tobacco products: Bard College, Culinary Institute of America, Iona College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Fredonia, and SUNY Potsdam—here’s a full listing of the smoking polices of college in New York (PDF doc). While some of you might hail this as a great way to reduce that dastardly secondhand smoke and limit the amount of cancer contracted good luck trying to mask all those bong hits in a clutch.
