In an advertisement billed as the “decline of civilization,” KATSU paints a “fire extinguisher fill-in,” the “first ever in graffiti history.” Despite the historical nature of this event, graffiti supplier Art Primo doesn’t bother showing off the finished fill-in, likely as drippy and sloppy as one would expect from the notoriously messy medium. Unlike Krink’s limited edition fire extinguisher full of paint, this Fumakaka’s high-pressure means of “creative expression” won’t cost much of anything. Photographer Martha Cooper returns from Bogota where the Peruvian graffiti crew was offering a “master class” and open source illustrated plans for building the Sembrador de Terror aka the Terror Planter. Constructed with common materials, the pressurized tagging tube is easily refillable for “super tags in half the time.” |12oz|

There was once a time when blasting your name in huge sloppy letters required some ingenuity, namely, acquiring a fire extinguisher and pumping it full of paint. Not sure what the vandal with too many nicknames means by this latest incarnation, but here it is, if not for shock value alone.

Preparations are underway at Deitch Projects for a Dash Snow exhibition in honor of the late artist. GLACER blasted the front of the 76 Grand Street gallery with a SACER fire extinguisher tag, while SEEDR hit the roof with a spraypainted portrait of the prolific graffiti writer. Anticipated to open from July 23rd to August 15th, the show will feature photos and videos of Snow alongside his own artwork, pieces created by friends in his memory, and an open wall for public expression.
