One of the only real reasons to go to New Jersey is so you can gamble in Atlantic City, but that could soon be a thing of the past and there may be no reason to ever visit the ‘Garden State’ again. Fifty six percent of people polled are in favor of creating Las Vegas-like casinos right here.

This news comes at a great time because former casino-hater and State Assembly Speaker, Sheldon Silver just announced that he loves the idea of turning the Aquaduct Racetrack in Queens into a full-fledged casino instead of a boring ol’ electronic betting parlor aka a racino. After all the success the city had with OTB, it should be interesting to see how this horse comes in.

Typically uninspired, promo shwag is getting some extra attention from Tools of the Trade, a San Francisco company focused on making fine art “accessible and interactive for everybody.” Their first community-building venture is “Rollin’ High,” a pot-themed dice game “developed” with graffiti writer and artist Mike Giant.

Packed in a medicine bottle covered with Giant’s spliff smoker, the three-die set is not only a fancier, pro-pot alternative to rolling with bodega brands, but also Wu-Tang Clan’s official choice for Cee-Lo, according to U-God who graciously explains the rules of gambling.

Banksy has been named one of Britain’s Top 50 Unsung Heroes. Lauded for vandalizing cities worldwide, the reclusive millionaire is praised for not totally outing himself and selling work via galleries and dealers, like most artists, street or otherwise.

The list was published today in a cross-promotional celebration of the National Lottery’s 15th anniversary. Lest any dutiful gamblers feel left out, the lotto gives them even bigger props, calling them the “the world’s biggest unsung heroes” for throwing away their money, more than $40 million a week which funds “fantastic projects that improve community life.” |SKY|

Former Senator Wins No-Bid OTB Contract

Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato received a no-bid contract from the New York City OTB. The one-year $144k deal was one of three criticized by a state comptroller audit for being handed out with no “written justification showing the need” and no sign that OTB staff couldn’t perform the work. But don’t worry, former OTB Chairman David Cornstein says “no favoritism was involved.” |NYP|
