Well Greenpeace UK, in response to the Gulf oil “spill,” placed this ad in today’s Guardian inviting the public to break out their color pencils. For you digital-savvy folk, you can also enter online here. (here’s the entries so far). The competition runs until June 28th. That Tony Hayward quote from last May is a gem. Jump for a video of Greenpeace activists rebranding bp’s London headquarters with a new flag and logo.

Yummy syrupy cherry filling! It’s a pretty lame parody of the actual Kit Kat spots, and like with many 60 second-spots, it should have a been :30 which would have made it more shocking. Anyway, the organization says that Kit Kat maker Nestlé gets their palm oil from companies that are destroying Indonesia’s rain forest, which is consequently edging the orangutan towards extinction. More info here. So, switch to carob bars, and help save some great apes, I guess. |Video: osocio|

I think we can all agree that the icebergs are melting. Good! Safer shipping lanes. Easy Gore, I’m kidding. Warning: it’s got a cold deadly twist.

It’s yet another global warming polar bear snuff film!—though not as gory as the last one. I wonder, can polar bears drown? Apparently, yes! Anyway, the video is by Greenpeace Germany, agency unknown. Rough copy translation: “In 30 years, the Arctic will be ice-free in the summer. The climate needs you.” I’d like to see the source for that statement. Here’s the accompanying website. Creatively, I like the simplicity of the spot; it’s got that AHA! moment that gets ad people hard. But the fake dead bear looks a little too fake. No way to avoid that, I guess…I’m now depressed for the rest of the day. |Video via: comunicadores|

The UN Climate Change Conference (look, penguins!) begins Monday in Copenhagen. Greenpeace and TckTckTck have collaborated to greet the leaders of the free world with dour Photoshopped-aged visages of the men (and Germany’s Angela Merkel) from the year 2020. The posters, which all feature the same lame fake scare-quote, have been erected all over the city’s airport. (click gallery) President Change looks so hopeless, Nicolas Sarkozy looks so angry and bloaty, and the UK’s Gordon Brown looks exactly the same, except grayer. Eight leaders in all are tweaked. Who knows? Maybe appealing to these egomaniacs’ vanity will accomplish something. |Images via: Creative Review|
