French expat Ultra Violet rolled around quite a few of Andy Warhol’s Factory films and she fucked Salvador Dalí, so this 75-year-old artist’s got star rep. Now the rebel Catholic girl turned godless Superstar turned Mormon has a submission for the 9/11 Ground Zero museum. It’s a 9/11, specifically, a 10-foot-tall IXXI.

She’s been obsessively making sculptures out of the date’s Roman numeral.

“I’m a New Yorker, so 9/11 affected me,” she says. Never forget 9/11. Also, it’s violet. Never forget Ultra Violet.

Judge Shoots Down Firefighter’s ‘Ground Zero’ Suit

A Manhattan judge ruled against a once honorable, ex-FDNY firefighter trying to block the construction of an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site. Timothy Brown with the backing of the fanatical American Center for Law and Justice, had filed a lawsuit agains NYC’s Landmarks Preservation.

According to court documents, he argued how the agency “now threatens to do what terrorists failed to accomplish and destroy a building that has been under consideration for landmark status for 20 years.” Justice Paul G. NYPD Detains Man for Lack of Common Sense During Presidential Visit

Cops descended on a Brooklyn man with a bike after observing him reach into his backpack as President Obama’s motorcade approached the WTC site. Moments before, he was reportedly moving around the crowd saying, “Secret Service, coming through.” At least one officer drew his gun on the 30-year-old musician who was later released and not charged, as mild stupidity is still legal.

The jingoistic cheerleader who was subjected to an America-hating L train and what he perceived was a lack of public patriotism, has attracted over 225,000 views on his video since ANIMAL first reported it and now has added two more links. He apparently was a lot more successful earlier that day at the World Trade Center site.

Ironically, he didn’t actually lead the chant. But before you cast him off a hardcore American nationalist, he also posted a link to the “Ground Zero” mosque rap he did in support of Park51, even thought he’s not a fan of Islam per se.

As news of Osama bin Laden’s death spread across the internet, radio and TV, jubilant crowds started to gather at the World Trade Center site to celebrate. The NYPD shut down vehicle traffic on Church and Vesey Streets and here’s a sample the party-like atmosphere that resulted as people chanted, cheered, and hung from light poles.

Nine years and a few months after the 9/11 attacks, workers unveiled a structure reminding everyone that its been nine years and a few months since the 9/11 attacks, when they tested one of site’s two memorial pools. And it worked. Water cascaded over the 3-story black granite walls lining the footprint of WTC 1 without creating too much noise. Progress or a big reflective reminder of the sloth-like pace at which things are getting built?

Art Trio Sticks It to Opponents and Supporters of Park51

Scattered around the city and within blocks of the WTC site are starkly designed posters that encourage the public to weigh in on the ‘Ground Zero Mosque’ – ‘Islamic Community Center’ debate that has died down considerably since 9/11, but is ready to flare back up at a moment’s notice.

It was created by an art trio calling itself Concerned New Yorkers and they have both a mission, to foster dialogue, and a website documenting the various missives that have appeared. What I like most about the project is that it not only lets both sides voice their opinions, but it also turns them all into vandals for writing on the illegally sanctioned notices in the first place. ‘Ground Zero’ Koran Desecrated

After a mostly quiet morning protest-wise, things quickly heated up blocks from the World Trade center site. A man who refused to give his name, burned and tore out some pages from a Koran at the corner of Park Place and Church Street. UPDATE: Videos added below.

The NYPD quickly reacted and escorted the man out of a press designated area as journalists descended on him and continued to follow him for blocks.
