I no expert and don’t know how they roll in Buffalo, but with the rising popularity of heroin all across New York—Long Island stand up—a recent seizure of seven kilograms doesn’t seem like such a large amount for the state’s second most populous city. But according to authorities and the news, it’s the biggest bust ever. Weak. Seriously, could any one place in NY be any more depressing?

Like previous studies in the UK, doctors in Canada found that junkies were more receptive to injected heroin than oral methadone in drug addiction programs. The retention rate was: 88% for heroin, 54% for methadone. Unfortunately, poking people with needles isn’t as socially acceptable as giving them shots and since heroin is illegal and often branded as a killer drug, its use is not widely advocated.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a female inmate in Florida “admitted that she did have heroin in her vagina” and removed “12 small green plastic bags” after questioning by correctional officials.
Twenty people were arrested in what authorities say is the biggest heroin bust on Long Island’s East End. According to Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota, the drug ring was responsible for selling about 2,500 bags of dope a week, which, in the scheme of things, seems like a relatively small amount considering the suburban enclave’s heroin nest status.
