Downgraded to a pitiful category 1 storm, Hurricane Earl isn’t expected to cause any real chaos for residents of New York City, although it is expected to trounce the eastern end of Long Island a little. Despite Earl’s weakness, it will still provide a much needed break to the unbearable hot weather as of late, until early next week, when the temperatures are expected to rise back into an unseasonably 80+ degrees.
Here’s colorized satellite image of Hurricane Ike as it lashes out against Cuba and begins to move towards the warms waters in the Gulf of Mexico where it could generate some more fury.
