KATSU Adds Some Relevance to MOCA Exhibit

In just six days, the “Safest Show on Earth” will open at the The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, offering what should be an incomplete and thoroughly sanitized “history of graffiti and street art.” So, KATSU decided to pay a visit early and offer his unsanctioned critique by way of a paint-filled fire extinguisher on the museum’s exterior walls.

Morrissey circa mid-90s finds himself endorsing Nike in KATSU’s latest series of faux-ads. This one just popped up on Avenue A and 12th Street. There’s a doughnut-grubbing Chief Wiggum in Chinatown on Allen Street too, but the Moz had more passerby doing a WTF double-take.

That alone makes this more amusing than the show-plugging promo posters from KATSU and Avone’s last ad hijack for Destroy/Rebuild. (Photos: ANIMAL New York)

A video has surfaced on YouTube that appears to show graffiti vandal KATSU tagging the security fence in front of the White House and even more remarkable, some people actually think it’s real. It’s basically the the low budget version of this. |Vandalog|

Katsu Sprays ‘World’s First’ Fire Extinguisher Fill-in a Second Time

As the saying goes, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Art Primo took down their first video of KATSU’s “World’s First” fire extinguisher fill-in, replacing it with a new, Jay-Z soundtracked edit. Besides speeding up the drippy action footage, the graffiti supplier also included a finished shot of the wholly illegible piece, illustrating why nobody ordinarily uses fire extinguishers to paint anything but sloppy drips and monster tags.

In an advertisement billed as the “decline of civilization,” KATSU paints a “fire extinguisher fill-in,” the “first ever in graffiti history.” Despite the historical nature of this event, graffiti supplier Art Primo doesn’t bother showing off the finished fill-in, likely as drippy and sloppy as one would expect from the notoriously messy medium. KATSU continues putting fire extinguishers to unintended use following his starring role in Red Bucket Films’ tagging tribute to “Powers of 10.” In this newly released video, the prolific paint sprayer is joined by fellow vandal MORAL as they bomb the boroughs’ walls, highways and bridges with fire extinguisher tags. High-pressure destruction footage comes after the jump.

KATSU Plays With Fire (Extinguisher)

Graffiti writers can modify all sorts of things and convert them into paint throwers. This couldn't be anymore true in the case of the notorious skull painting vandal, KATSU, who posted this video on how to paint with a fire extinguisher on YouTube. While it's by no means a new technique, he rocks it well. But this is serious business kids, it's no laughing matter:

Graffiti is not funny. Its not a joke. Extinguishers are not fun. They are serious. Painting with an extinguisher is an act of pure anti-social behavior. So is putting a video of you doing it on youtube.
