Colette, a self-described “Victorian punk” is a unique visionary originating from the 70′s New York art scene, whose performances and multi-media installations landed her shows in reputable museums like MOMA, the Guggenheim, and the Whitney. And now, Barneys?

The artist claims Lady Gaga counterfeited her signature work and incorporated it into the window displays and collection the mega pop star did with the high end retailer.

So Colette took matters into her own hands. Accompanied by videographer Josh Gilbert, she headed over to Gaga’s ‘Workshop’ at Barneys to protest the reappropriation using the simplest, yet most effective medium: paint. Watch as she creates an outdoor placard on the sidewalk to credit her work. Alas, c’est la vie.

Well, womp womp, kiddies. After all those promises of lucrative pop star Lady Gaga “like, peeing in a cup” while aging prince flash-sleaze Terry Richardson cheers “Wow, baby, wow!” here tis: A big photobook, LADY GAGA X TERRY RICHARDSON, with some snagged preview pics above. Apparently, Terry was her personal paparazzi, following her around to make these 450 photos (Ey, who’s buying this? Do we have confirmed kinky shit?), but so far, nothing is more revealing than her introduction… Ahem:

“There is no moment too strange, no angle unflattering, no circumstance relying on blind artifice, and never a time that I feel embarrassed or unsafe. Awakened in me is a perverse liberation, inspiring me to feel that is okay to view yourself as hyper-human. This is how Terry views me. I am so real, he says, that I am unreal.”

Nah, this is not the venue to rehash Richardson’s rep and how it allegedly befouls Gaga, whatever. I like her Nobuyoshi Araki nude polaroids much better and he’s a perv too but HAHAHA. Did you see that? She actually says “no moment too strange, no angle unflattering, blah blah blah.” Read that slower. Instead of meaning “no angle too unflattering” (which, perhaps, she meant to mean) it comes out as “there are no unflattering angles.” That’s some truthiness, ain’t it?

So, look forward to flattering peeing pics.

These Polaroid outtakes from Lady Gaga’s Vogue Hommes Japan session with subversive photography legend Nobuyoshi Araki have recently surfaced, featuring the world’s biggest music celebrity, breasts out, hanging off ropes and rolling around. As much as I love to rip on this insufferable (f)artist copycat who makes terrible, terrible music, I haven’t gone “hmm” for the popstar-art-crossover since Takashi Murakami turned Britney Spears into a naughty anime school girl and this might be better.

I mean, if you’re going to go tits out, it might as well be for Nobuyoshi Araki himself! These make that Vogue Hommes Japan meat-bikini cover Terry Richardson shot look even sillier… but these Polaroids went unpublished while Gaga went off to pee and generically pose for Terry instead. What a waste.

Jonnie Engelhardt Lautenberg’s portraits of Lady Gaga live and Matthew Barney Cremaster 2 epic ephemera meet at RH Gallery’s upcoming group show Melodymania, named for the earworm syndrome. Ooh. Drama? Sure, Gaga’s cool for putting her money where her flag is, but she still bites artists left and right with her “homage”-hungry chompers, specifically Cremaster 3 for Bad Romance, gratuitously.

Ah, well. Sounds like a lovely, solid themed show with Bruce Nauman’s stellar print of Violins/Violence, a commentary on verbal/visual discrepancy, Slater Bradley’s sentimental, Joy Division fandom-themed The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine No More and more art to get stuck in your head. “Melodymania,” Group Show, Sep 13 – Oct 29, RH Gallery, NYC

Lady Gaga arrived in a box truck (along with Terry Richardson) and was then carried down the red carpet in an egg.

According to Blogger Bob, Taz Arnold and his spikes recently succeeded in getting past a checkpoint at Dulles. “As you can imagine, the X-ray image was quite unique,” BB writes. “After taking a closer look, our Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) permitted Taz to travel to the gate with his spiked shoes. It caused a slight delay, but it all turned out well in the end.” But it sounds like the situation almost went the other way: “why did airport security TSA try and jAck my ‘louboutin$’ these are weApon$! wtf? killA $wAg!,” tweeted Taz on January 4. Maybe his fame helped?

Less-famous folks commenting on Blogger Bob’s conclusively heartwarming post are complaining that when they tried to get their edgy fashions through security, TSA-generated drama ensued. One person carrying an Alexander McQueen knuckle-duster skull clutch had the cops called on her after a TSA agent at O’Hare deemed her bag to be a weapon. “He sent a cop over to talk to me, put me through a backscatter, and went through every piece of underwear in my bag, unfolding everything,” says the commenter. TSA Team member “West” explains that Illinois law makes “metal knuckles” illegal–but isn’t McQueen’s purse actually a work of fashion-art? Seems like TSA agents don’t get fashion; how, then, can they TRULY do their jobs?

Another person comments that they couldn’t wear their studded belt past the checkpoint. When it comes to banning things, studs make even less sense than spikes–for one thing, they’re flat. Here, check out this studded Louboutin bag: fierce, to be sure. But not threatening.

TSA’s unclear fashion-related security policies raise all sorts of questions about what is allowed on flights, and how edgy one’s look can actually get. Would TSA ban Lady Gaga’s Hermes Birkin bag? How about these Ruth Davis booties? (Which feature is more dangerous: the spikes, or the heel?) Or these spiked sunglasses from F#@& The Mainstream? Isn’t the metal prong of a standard belt similar to a spiky-pointy thing? Why are we allowed to carry anything on an airplane, really? We could post these questions and more onto the TSA’s Blogger Bob website, but it looks like Bob isn’t big on answers. Guess we’ll have to continue wearing our paper hospital gown on all flights we take, until this matter’s resolved.
