Unlike most ad hacks, I am no fan of the hack art of hack adman (he was an advertising art director in the 1950s) Andrew Warhola. Not surprisingly, I am also not a fan of hack ads hackily employing his hack four quadrant silkscreen layout. It’s a tired hacky meme that’s been ad-hacked to death—even hack Williamsburg condo developers have knocked it off. Here, via Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore, Lexus continues their endless, relentless pursuit of perfection with this hacky imitation Andy. Headline: “Every piece is a masterpiece.” I’m sure seeing their richly-hued engine made Lexus execs rub themselves vigorously—a scene Warhol would have loved to have filmed. Jump for the second and third ads in the campaign—unimaginative Dali and Van Gogh reimaginations. Related: Fake AA Ad Artist Makes/Desecrates Fake Warhol.
