“The Garden State” could potentially take on a whole new meaning if a new bill is passed that would “legalize marijuana for medical use in New Jersey.” A state senate committee voted overwhelmingly to consider the bill, (S119), allowing for “patients with a written recommendation by their doctor to possess six plants and one ounce of usable marijuana and be free of the threat of state prosecution.” If passed, New Jersey would become the “14th state to sanction marijuana for medical uses.”

Recognizing the benefits of medicinal cannabis, state politicians took a rare step and did something right: “The New York Assembly passed a bill today that would protect New Yorkers with life threatening or debilitating conditions from arrest for using medical marijuana when their doctors believe it would be the best treatment option, 79-48.” Numerous doctors and even retired law enforcement described the healing power of the good weed.
