The day after being formally canned by NY1, Dominic Carter was sentenced today for beating up his wife. The sentence: 30 days in jail and one year of probation. Oh, and the judge said that Carter’s wife can’t visit him while he’s behind bars. Surely she’s crushed. |Daily News|

Less than a week after the Post ran a somewhat sympathetic feature on wife-beating NY1 anchor Dominic Carter and his hunt for redemption, cops in Rockland County are investigating Carter, who is scheduled to be sentenced this week for his recent conviction on domestic abuse charges, for beating up his wife yet again.

The New York Post reported the following on Saturday:

Ramapo Town Police confirmed that they were probing a new matter and said they had visited the Carters’ Pomona residence yesterday.

Police refused to reveal details about the case.

Sgt. Mike Colbath said officers filed a report on the case yesterday but would not make it publicly available for several days.

Marilyn Carter, 52, denied yesterday that Dominic had assaulted her.

“It’s not true whatsoever,” said Marilyn, a college administrator.

“I just had lunch with Dominic . . . I have not filed any police report. Nothing happened last night.”

Dominic, 45, said, “There was no incident at my house” on Thursday night.

“My son and daughter are under enormous pressure from reporters asking questions,” added Dominic, who refused to explain the significance of that comment.

And then on Sunday the Post followed up their Saturday report with this:

Disgraced NY1 political anchor Dominic Carter’s latest round of wife-beating allegations came after his worried son told a high-school counselor about a bloody incident at the family home, a source told The Post.

Dominic Jr., 17, told the counselor on Friday he saw blood and a broken hanger on the floor of his older sister Courtney’s room — and the school worker immediately called cops, the source said.

Dominic Carter’s house just sounds like the most unhappy place in the world, doesn’t it?

Troubled NY1 anchor Dominic Carter was convicted of beating his wife on Friday and now faces jail time, causing him to weep openly about the injustice of having everything he’s worked so hard to build in his life crumble to pieces for merely treating his wife like a speed bag.

Reports the NY Daily News:

A tearful Dominic Carter wept openly Saturday, saying his life was in ruins after being fingerprinted like a common hood.

Carter was stone-faced as he walked into Ramapo police headquarters just before 1 p.m. Saturday. About an hour later, he broke down outside the police station.

“I’m a kid who grew up with nothing, absolutely nothing,” he sobbed. “I worked my whole life for everything and this is what I get.”

This is why you shouldn’t beat your wife dude.

Last we checked in with NY1 anchor Dominic Carter, dude just couldn’t catch a break, having the misfortune to bump into the bitchiest flight attendant in the airline industry in the course of attempting to get away from it all in lovely Kansas City, Missouri. Unfortunately for the alleged serial wife-beater, things didn’t get any better when he and his wife finally reached their destination.

The New York Post reported today that Carter’s life became even more unraveled in KC than it had been previously in NYC, if that’s even possible, culminating in his wife’s disappearance. Local police were able to track her down at the local airport where she was waiting to board a flight back to New York after leaving all of things in the hotel that she and Carter had been staying at.

“She stated that she was fine and she just wanted to get back to New York,” Kansas City Police Officer Darin Snapp said yesterday.

Dominic had been scheduled to give a “motivational speech” at an NAACP dinner Saturday night, but canceled because “he wasn’t feeling well” after landing, Snapp said.

The next day, around 10:50 p.m., cops rushed over to the Marriott when a person claiming to be a Carter relative called the hotel and said “they are concerned that Dominic is going to commit suicide,” Snapp said.

Cops found Carter — checked in under the name Charles Brown — alone in his room.

Around 11:30 p.m., with officers still at the hotel, the couple’s daughter, Courtney, 21, called them from New York to relay an earlier phone call with Marilyn in which “things didn’t seem right. Her mother seemed like she might have been under some type of duress,” Snapp said.

Sadly for Carter’s apparently eroding psyche, last night’s mayoral election was the type of once-every-four-year event he lives for, yet he was noticeably absent from the air. Let this be a lesson to all the kids out there: domestic violence does not pay! But seriously, I just don’t foresee any possible scenario in which this ends well for anyone.

In an effort to seek shelter from the seemingly endless shitstorm that’s been raining down on him lately, embattled NY1 anchor/alleged wife-beater Dominic Carter and his wife decided to do what countless others have done when they’ve felt the need “to chill, to relax and get away from it all”: spend a weekend in Kansas City. But poor Dominic couldn’t even do that without sparking a controversy. You see, shortly after boarding a flight to KC, Carter bent down to tie his shoes and in doing so bumped into a bitchy male flight attendant, who proceeded to throw a hissy fit about the whole thing.

According to the New York Post, who got the scoop from Carter’s aunt, of all people, the flight attendant was so peeved at Carter that he and wife bolted from the plane:

“That other guy lost it, ‘Oh, no! You bumped into me! You will be removed from this flight!’ ” his aunt, Inez Carter, 63, told The Post.

When the officers arrived, Carter, who was headed to Kansas City with his wife, Marilyn, “just to chill, to relax and get away from it all,” according to his aunt — overheard a supervisor saying it’d take an hour to replace the agitated flight attendant.

Instead, he volunteered to leave the flight.

“Dominic, rather than hold up the flight, decided to remove himself,” said the aunt. “[He] just doesn’t need this right now.”

Carter and his wife received an apology from Delta Airlines for the flight attendant’s behavior and were seated in first class on the next flight out to Kansas City, so finally, Dominic Carter and his wife experienced a brief, fleeting ray of sunshine in their wretched lives.

If you live in New York City there’s a good chance you’ve seen Dominic Carter on television. He’s a portly, jovial black anchor on NY1, the area’s 24 hour local news channel. He’s also an alleged wife beater with an alleged secret family. He may have also assaulted some of his colleagues. Yes, Dominic Carter might just be an asshole.

Yesterday the New York Post detailed numerous police reports on domestic disputes between Carter, currently on trial for assaulting his wife last year, and his wife Marilyn. However, in typical battered wife fashion, Carter’s wife is defending him, claiming that the beating she reported receiving from her husband last year actually came from a Mexican day laborer pissed off about not being paid more money for a job after she picked him up on the side of the road, but her 911 call to police tells a different story:

Yesterday, at Dominic’s trial, prosecutors introduced Marilyn’s 911 call from that stormy night — a call in which violent anonymous day laborers are notably absent.

“I have a domestic violence incident here,” the wife tells the dispatcher.

Asked who was “the other person involved,” she replies, “Dominic Carter,” adding:

But when she took the stand yesterday — by order of a prosecution subpoena — Marilyn told a different tale to Judge Arnold Etelson, who will decide her husband’s fate.

Marilyn said that earlier that day, she and Dominic had an argument when she told him of a neurologist’s report about their son, Dominic Jr., who suffers from epilepsy. She testified her husband then stormed out.

Prosecutors also revealed a written statement Marilyn gave cops after that incident. She claimed Dominic told her that day, “You’re dumb, you’re stupid, you’re retarded . . . you’re a dumb project bitch, and I have no respect for you” before hitting her.

Today’s Post story on the trial says that Carter has a secret family on the side with his high school sweetheart, with whom he has two children. The Post also notes that Carter has been suspended from work twice recently for getting into “altercations” with colleagues.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I’m guessing that Dominic Carter’s career at NY1 may be over regardless of whether or not the judge in the case rules against him.
