While most polls go ignored by pretty much anyone who isn’t running for office or has their own talk show, the latest one by Gallup could be of interest to many of our dear readers. It seems that a “record high” 50% of Americans think weed should be legalized while 46% prefer it remains illegal. Read more »
New Yorkers are still in favor of the bike lanes and there’s nothing that a local anti-bike tabloid can do to change that. That’s right. Despite a massive onslaught of misleading yclist-related coverage, not even the mighty New York Post can influence the the results of the latest poll. Conducted by NY1 and Marist College, (PDF doc) it found city residents overwhelmingly in “support” of the bike lanes, just like this recent survey. (Photo: Spencer Thomas/flickr)
A Quinnipiac University poll asked New Yorkers if they think the expanding network of bike lanes are having a positive impact and 59 percent responded favorably, choosing that it’s a “good thing because it’s greener and healthier for people” over it being bad “because it leaves less room for cars with increased traffic.” Read more »
Despite a sustained propaganda campaign being waged by the local tabloids, a majority of New Yorkers approve of the city’s bike lanes according to the latest Quinnipiac poll. 54 percent of voters were in favor and 39 percent against. Shockingly, support and opposition to the lanes was split along party lines with Democrats backing the lanes 59 to 35 percent and Republicans adverse to them by the same margin. With just eight days to go before California’s Proposition 19 is voted on, the latest polls showed support decreasing, but could that be due to the method in which they were taken? According to internal numbers, it’s quite possible as individuals tended to be less supportive of the measure when responding to live interviewers compared to automated surveys, proving that there’s still a stigma attached to the legalization issue and that people still don’t trust the man, who in this case, happens to be a pollster.
The last Quinnipiac University poll conducted week ago had Cuomo ahead of Paladino by only six points, but according to its latest survey, the Democratic candidate now has a 18-point lead over his tea bagging Republican rival.
HA! According to a Pew poll, atheists tend to be more knowledgeable about religion than most of the people following said religion (Jews and Mormons excluded).
According to the latest poll that was released on Thursday by Siena College, Andrew Cuomo has a significant lead over Carl Paladino: 57% to 24%. Mind you, this is the third poll to come out this week. Earlier, Rasmussen released numbers that had the Democrat ahead of the Republican by a 54% to 38% margin, which was then followed by a Quinnipiac poll than only placed Cuomo ahead of Paladino by 6 points, making it the most unlikely one.
Nine years after the September 11th attacks, only 1% of Americans see terrorism as the most important problem facing the United States according to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll. This represents a precipitous drop from October 2001 when a whopping 46% said it was the country’s top issue.
No longer a bastion of pluralism and tolerance, according to a New York Times poll, two-thirds of city residents want a proposed Islamic center near the WTC site moved to another location. With the 9th anniversary of the September 11th attacks approaching, the results aren’t all that shocking and considering that New Yorkers have discriminated against one cultural group or another at some point in history, not that surprising either.
