Colossal Media Uses Unsold Wall Space To Mock the Burg

As PublicAdCampaign notes, Colossal Media is by far the least evil of the outdoor advertising companies since they have a nominal commitment to the arts. Although we weren’t so keen on them doing Banksy’s dirty work for him either, this gentrification-taunting “Welcome to Luxury” mural on North 5th and Bedford in Williamsburg central more than makes up for it.

Poster Boy Cuts His Way Into Gallery Scene

Ad altering schizophrenic, Poster Boy, is changing it up a little and preparing for his solo exhibit at Eastern District gallery in Bushwick. Presented by PublicAdCampaign, the April 3rd “Ad Booster” show will feature new work, including an actual oversized billboard. Instead of just tearing one down like he did in the dead of winter, he’ll drag one into the space instead and modify it accordingly. Click here for more info and lofty art speak describing the exhibit. In related Poster Boy news, this movement thing is starting to manifest, dude wasn’t even in town and these sprang up.

Public Ad Campaign: Now In Blog Format

Ad-hating artist Jordan Seiler announced that he’s changed his website to a blog format so expect a good resource for commentary “on contemporary public advertising issues and ramblings about public space.” He spotted this Converse ad from famed subway ad remixer Poster Boy in the very busy, high trafficked 14th St. and 8th Ave. subway station. Not an easy feat as he notes: “I know how quiet you have to be these days to pull this off without getting fucked with and let me tell you this wasn’t easy.” |PublicAdCampaign|
