A New York real-estate broker Richard Silver was sentenced for selling counterfeit Damien Hirst spots. See, what happened was is that bought some “spots” that turned out to be forgeries, so he re-sold the fakes on eBay. Now he’s headed to Rikers Island for sixty days.

A professional fraudster from Irvine, California sold Mr. Silver the spotty collection for $84,000. They were just like the “real” spots, but Damien Hirst’s assistants didn’t paint them. We reckon they performed a taste test?

So, the original crook went to prison for selling Silver spots that were just spots, and not same-looking spots magically transmuted into art because Hirst christened them. Then, in a misguided a-ha moment, swindled Silver figured he’d falsify some appraisals to get these damn spots out of his life. When he got called on the hustle, he refunded the wised-up eBay buyers through Paypal, until one pesky unsatisfied customer went to the D.A. Tsk-tsk.

Now, the photographer, art collector and [former] member of Corcoran’s “Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club” will “teach other inmates job preparedness skills” at Rikers Island.

The object had successfully traversed the Bronx and East Rivers and was set to travel up Harlem River, but had to be cut off from the canoes that towed it when the weather got too wild and met its eventual end at the shores of the island.

The spokeswoman gave us Rikers’ official position about the song that has the rapper implying that he had sexual relations with a female prison guard while visiting Lil Wayne in jail.

She writes:

We have no record of any incident of that description occurring here at Rikers. You should know all visits are closely supervised by Correction staff. Officials are aware of the lyrics and do not believe the lyrics warrant further investigation. If we had enough facts upon which to launch an investigation of this type, we certainly would investigate.

This could finally be what Drake’s been looking for to show the world that he’s really hard. Congrats Aubrey!

Drake drops a veiled yet noteworthy claim on Tha Carter 4 that he slept with a prison guard while paying a visit to Lil Wayne at Rikers.

On the song “It’s Good,” Drake says, “Rikers Island on this flow, eight months for that pistol, But at least they had some bad bitches workin’ in that shit hole, Three visits later, I went and did it major, So fuck the judge, and the jury, and the litigator.” Can’t believe it took three visits for the sweater-loving, fame-hating Drake to do the dirty deed.

Rikers has a history with “bad bitches” sleeping with prisoners. Earlier this year the New York Post reported that “at least six female officers have been fired or forced out for undue familiarity with prisoners since 2007, including Kimberly Hurd, 39, who bore an inmate’s love child and Yolanda Turner-Goodwin, 44, who was photographed hugging and kissing a prisoner.” We contacted Rikers Island for comment several times and will update when they give us some information.

As we reported yesterday, the artist-vandal known as Poster Boy was sentenced to 11 months at Rikers Island. He is housed at the Otis Bantum Correctional Center (OBCC), which one Department of Corrections operator described as “the worst jail” over there. But, he did say that being “an artist is a commodity” and could help keep him make friends as inmates often need stuff drawn for custom jailhouse-style stationery. Hey, it worked for KIKO. UPDATE: He’s been moved to the EMTC (Eric M Taylor Center).

Anyway, who knows how long it’s going to take to appeal the case and in the meantime, you may want to write him here:

The rapper was on his way to criminal court in Manhattan to get sentenced today, but there was a fire in the basement, and he was once again spared incarceration at Rikers Island. Last time he was given a reprieve to get dental work done. No date has been set for his new hearing yet, so expect a few more sensitively poetic tweets before he tries for a third time.
