Smart Crew’s Vandalism Is Helpful, not Destructive

Unlike other graffiti crews who just slap up stickers for their own selfish purposes, ‘Smart‘ does it for the betterment of the community by shielding the kids from pornographic imagery and racial epithets. Someone on their “fan” blog posted the following “clarification”: “If you have ever noticed our stickers around on the streets, the only purpose was to cover something up that may have been offensive to the public.”

‘Smart’ Graffiti Crew Cares, Sends Vandal Squad Holiday Cheer

‘Smart’ Graffiti Crew Marks Holiday Season With Good Will Gesture

When the graffiti bombing ‘Smart Crew‘ isn’t out on the streets “providing the public with free art and entertainment” or helping disseminate art supplies via their fat tip vending machines, they’re reaching the community by other means, like this new charitable initiative: SMART CREW CARES. Hoping to highlight the positive aspects of graffiti and help those in need during recessionary times, the collective of property manipulating painters have set up “Donation/Redemption Centers” stocked with various items in a few locations throughout the city. For those in need, redeemable gift cards are being distributed throughout the city and recipients can claim one gift per voucher. Feel free to send the postcard/vouchers to family and friends or “eBay these limited edition cards for extra cash.” Check HERE for more info and a list of participating locations.
