The Standard doesn’t just encourage guests to bare it all in front of the hotel’s floor to ceiling windows overlooking the High Line. Staff members are also encouraged to join in the publicity stunt, “stripping down and posing provocatively” for the crowds and cameras. |NYP|

Post Discovers High Line Peep Show

Months after blogs were buzzing about exhibitionists at the Standard Hotel, the Post files an “exclusive” report on the nude window displays. Cautioning parents, the tabloid reiterates what a good vantage point the newly opened High Line park makes for watching hotel guests get undressed and having sex. However, the Standard has backed off their encouragement of public affection, deleting a blog post asking “amateur pornographers” to share their “most erotic photos shot at The Standard, New York,” where “floor to ceiling glass windows … offer direct views to your most intimate moments.”

Standard Hotel Takes Guests To Hell and Back

While hell is rife with Nazi rallies, titties and lightning, heaven is inhabited by Michael Jackson, Lassie and dead presidents. Somewhere in between it’s just chorus lines and public transportation or so suggests an intriguing new video installation in the Standard Hotel, looming over the Highline. The video, “Civilization,” was installed last week and is composed of more than 400 video clips to take guest on an ascent to Heaven or descent to Hell, depending on which way they’re riding. Preview the work directed by Marco Brambilla above, and save yourself a trip to the Meatpacking District, which is something close to hell.

‘Standard’ T-Shirts

Like the MTA and its line of artist designed t-shirts, Standard hotel honcho Andre Balaz is also exploring alternate streams of revenue, releasing his own series of graphic tees—for $55 a pop! He tapped the likes of Jose Parla, Eric Haze and Natas Kaupas to create designs “that represent their personal street style and handwriting in each of the cities reflected on the front, which include Miami, New York, and L.A. respectively.” Former public property destroyer HAZE, was responsible for this NYC version. |Cool Hunting|
