‘Secret Policeman’ Coming to New York

Traditionally, Amnesty International’s Secret Policeman’s Ball is held in the UK, but for the first time ever, the comedic fundraising event is coming to New York City on March 4th. The showcase will include Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Russell Brand, who presumably will try and redeem himself for remaking Arthur.

Stephen Colbert Sold!

Stephen Colbert’s portrait was up for auction at the Phillips de Pury today. The portrait has been tweaked in various degrees by variously-able artists (Steve Martin, Frank Stella, Shepard Fairey and Andres Serrano) and is described in the catalog as “Inkjet on canvas, with acrylic spray paint, Sharpie, looked-at-edness of Frank Stella.” It’s just been sold for $26,000 and will benfit nifty educational charity tool, DonorsChoose.
