For their January issue, Steven Meisel is helping Vogue Italy inject a bit of humor into the generally rigid pages of their high-end publication with a QVC-inspired editorial that playfully nods at the programming our grandmothers (and Midwesterners) all love so much.

No hideous housewares, shitty TVs, or faulty ladders here – just the latest, most unaccessible 2012 collections from designers this season.

Complete with elevator music and pretentious hosts, the girls model everything from Louis Vuitton to Versace. Thanks for rubbing it in, assholes.

Italian Vogue Channels Ethel Granger, High Fashion Planking Ensues

In their latest editorial shot by Steven Meisel, Vogue Italia pays homage to the legendary Ethel Granger – who revolutionized the sexual art of fetish corsetry with her 13-inch waist – via a sadomasochist spread starring model Stella Tennant.

Each photo shows Tennant in a classic Granger look, complete with elaborate piercings and the infamous corsets that made Ethel a Guinness World Record holder in the first place. Personally, I’m most impressed by how the model can plank in such restrictive pieces – and over the back of a chair no less! See the full gallery here…

The Oil Spill Is Very Fashionable

Here are some models rolling around in fake oil for Vogue Italia. The current issue’s photo spread is intent on ruffling a few oil-slicked feathers. See a skinny girl in tattered couture spit up gooey gobs, clutch at her neck, stiff out her sticky arms and play dead – you know, empathize? – in the gallery and video below.

High fashion satire or crude exploitation? You decide. But first, see the photo shoot video as a blonde rolls and lolls about mucky puddles, ruining what surely is thousands of dollars worth of nice clothes. The video is scored with some bubbly clubby track and really puts all the rock draping and feather chewing in context. Here we have money spent on pretend disaster and money being made from a real tragedy. Hey, it is edgy.

Nothing says you are totally stylish like wearing black and rolling around atop the grave of your deceased loved one while clawing your eyes out. Trust me. I know. And so does photograteur Steven Meisel, whose latest freaky fashion shoot for Vogue Italy features a posse of models flailing about and looking fashionable at a funeral. It’s a couture-wearing necrophiliac’s wet dream, really. The spread is likely a posthumous nod to designer Yves Saint Laurent. Either way, it’s kinda creepy.
