Just as President Obama firmly established his American citizenship, Superman is renouncing his. The Man of Steel said he’s sick of the world perceiving him solely as an instrument of the U.S. and so he decided to distance himself to the utter dismay of Fox News. But according the DC Comics co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio, the superhero is no traitor. “Superman announces his intention to put a global focus on his never ending battle, but he remains, as always, committed to his adopted home and his roots as a Kansas farm boy from Smallville,” explained the pair in a statement.

Featuring the premiere of the Man of Steel and one of two in good condition of the remaining 100, this little comic book clocked in the record sale that’s triple the previous top ranker.Â ComicConnect.com co-owner and big-bucks Superman #1 barterer Zurzolo is serenading about comic book collecting being a sounder investment than keeping money in the bank. He might have a point there.

‘Tired’ Bizarro Superman Arrested Again

A week after his arrest in Times Square after a wrestling match with four police and allegedly “punching the girl cop in the face,” a Superman wannabe was booked again. 23-year-old Maksim Katsnelson was arrested on Tuesday night at Columbus Circle and charged with several misdemeanors including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and trespassing.

A police officer found the costumed character lying on the sidewalk where he exclaimed, “I am just tired, I am not going anywhere….I am Superman, the Governorator.” Authorities say he then ran around in traffic and a witness says he was taunting police. The next day in court, he “was generally presenting himself as a civil rights-minded humanist, and he does these things to protest authoritarianism,” according to freelance photographer John Marshall Mantel, who shot the photo above. After that the Man of Steel was released on $1k bail into the custody of his mother and father. |NYT|

NYPD Struggles To Subdue Man of Steel

Photos can’t properly convey the profanity-laced struggle that ensued when cops tried to arrest an unruly Superman wannabe, so luckily video footage has surfaced. Last week, the costumed character took off running when police handcuffed his friend, dressed as Batman, after they asked him for some permit he didn’t need and then ID he didn’t have. Despite screaming, “I’m not getting arrested,” the Superman performer was tackled to the ground and eventually taken into custody, but not without a tussle first. See the comic tragedy unfold below as officers are unable to handcuff the impersonator.

NYPD Unmasks Bizarro World Superheroes In Times Square

Last night in Times Square, a couple wannabe superheroes fought the law and the law won. According to the Post, a duo dressed up as Superman and Batman couldn’t provide police with “the required license to perform in costume in public,” or any identification for that matter. When cops handcuffed Batman, real name Frank Frisoli, Superman “took off, screaming, ‘I’m not getting arrested.” Police tackled the Man of Steel, 23-year-old Maksim Katsnelson, and charged him with resisting arresting, as well as assault for allegedly hitting an officer. Batman, who was released in the car-free space, said, “We were just having a good time,” at least until Superman “freaked out and punched the girl cop in the face.”
