The U.S. Supreme Court refused to intervene in the execution of Troy Davis and at 11:08 on Wednesday night, he was pronounced dead by Georgia’s Evilest. Forty minutes later, the New York Post updated their Twitter with this cruel zinger: “Yankees clinch AL East.-In other news cop killer #TroyDavis died of lethal injection.” Classy.
While it’s perfectly plausible that Fox News “reporter” Greta Van Susteren thinks she has a direct line to God, where is she getting her info about possibly innocent death row inmate Troy Davis? In 2009, the Cajun Boy wrote about Troy Davis, a Georgia man who was dubiously convicted of murdering a police officer and sentenced to death. Today, the high court ignored the preponderance of doubt in the case and rejected his appeal, allowing prosecutors to move forward with his execution. A few weeks ago we told you about Troy Davis, a Georgia man sentenced to death in 1991 for the murder of a Savannah police officer. In the years since Davis’ trial, numerous witnesses who testified against him have recanted their testimony saying that they were coerced and intimidated by aggressive law enforcement officials.
