There’s Not a “Jelly Donut” On Mars

February 18, 2014 | Bucky Turco

NASA’s Opportunity rover is currently traipsing around Mars and every now and then, it discovers something temporarily unexplainable. Last month, the space agency published an image of a rock that seemed to mysteriously appear on the Martian surface. “It looks like a jelly donut,” said Steve Squyres, head scientist on the rover project. And it appeared, it just plain appeared, at that spot and we haven’t driven over that spot.” This sent the internet into a tizzy. One person he even filed a lawsuit against the space agency, for not further investigating the object for alien life. Researchers are now saying it’s just a rock, a rock that was kicked up by one of the rover’s wheels. In more important science-like news, check out Kate Upton’s zero-g boobs.
