These Imaginary Computer Screens Sure Are Pretty

Zoom in! Facial recognition! Enhance, enhance, enhance!

Much like hackers in movies are always outfitted with ridiculously sophisticated (or just ridiculous) fantasy-world computers, the “good guys” usually get some pretty high-tech equipment as well. How else would they pick out a suspect wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses in a crowd of thousands from an insanely low-res video feed, or develop a Gotham City-wide cell phone surveillance network?

Now, many of those sleek, beautiful, goofy computer screens are available for your browsing pleasure at Kit FUI, a website devoted to documenting what are known as Fantasy User Interfaces (or Fake User Interfaces, or Futuristic User Interfaces, depending on who you ask.

There’s the body scanners from Casino Royale, disease maps from Contagion, even dumb little entertainment devices from 2 Fast 2 Furious. Take a look at some highlights in the gallery.
