This Latin King-Turned-Hasidic Jew Cop Impersonator Seems Pretty Interesting

Avorham Gross seems like a pretty singular dude. Gross, formerly known as Roberto Eddy Santos, might be the world’s only Latin King who converted to Orthodox Judaism and then impersonated a police officer on many occasions. He was sentenced to 2.5 to 5 years for his impersonations on Tuesday, the Post reports.

Gross converted to Judaism after serving time for robbery in the ’90s. He installed lights and sirens in his wife’s car, claimed to work for the “Child Abuse Task Force of New York City,” an organization he made up but that his attorney claims is real (brilliant defense strategy, by the way), and even arrested somebody, a story I would love to hear. He once pulled over a bus after the driver cut him off.

He pleaded guilty to tampering with public records, possession of forged instruments and criminal impersonation. He says he really was an anti-child abuse crusader, so his heart was in the right place, I guess. I wonder if God talks directly to him. That would explain a lot.
