This Year’s Gay Pride Parade Was Extra Gay

There was a lot to celebrate at this year’s Gay Pride Parade in New York City. Grand marshaled by Sirs Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi, the annual event took place just two days after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same sex marriage as the law of the land, creating a joyous atmosphere that seemed to surpass the euphoria of previous pride parades as more than 20,000 marchers and 50 floats made their way from Midtown to the West Village. Only a handful of demonstrators showed up to protest, and according to the New York Times, some of them were paid to hold signs that read “Judaism prohibits homosexuality” and “God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” But overall, nothing it seems — not even the bit of rain that fell — could have dampened the jubilant mood. Check out the festivities in the gallery above.
