This Tumblr Site Is Compiling All The Cities Where Mike Brown Protests Are Planned

November 14, 2014 | Amy K. Nelson

Soon a grand jury will come back with a decision on whether to indict officer Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown, the unarmed teenager who was shot and killed on August 9, sparking protests, violence and tear gas for weeks in Ferguson. With many anticipating that the jury will not indict Wilson, there are already planned protests across the country for whenever the decision is released.

And if you’re curious what will be happening in your city and where, a new Tumblr site allows organizers from around the country to post their plans.

Fergusonresponse.tumblr.com, encourages any group that wants to post its planned response to its tumblr site, and already there are almost 60 cities listed on the site that are organizing protests. Some are scheduled on the day of the announcement, others the day after. Its unclear if any of the posts are vetted.

It’s unclear exact when the decision will be made, but a report on the Root website said the grand jury could come back as early as Monday, though no other outlet has confirmed that. Local officials have said they expect one before the end of the month.

Authorities are preparing for protests and the possibility they turn violent again if the grand jury declines to indict. Whenever it happens and whatever the outcome, it’s clear that for now, groups in these cities will have coordinated a response.
