Wacky ‘Stop the Islamization of America’ Supporter Censors ANIMAL

SIOA_protest_post On June 7th, I asked flickr user, Tatayana Skymyrka, if I could publish four photos from an anti-mosque protest near Ground Zero that was organized by the overtly hateful Stop the Islamization of America group. Skymyrka agreed and gave me express permission to use the dramatic black and white images of funny sign holders, but hours later, after reading what I wrote, sent the following message: “Saw you post and do not approve of my work going with the narrative presented. please remove.”

So basically a group worried about American values is suppressing American values. Ha, that makes about as much sense as calling the SIOA organization a “human rights group.” Anyway the maniacal shutterbug sent a DMCA notice so we modified the images accordingly and posted it below.

Dear Sydney Schneider:
Several of my copyrighted images are currently being publicly displayed on one of your client’s sites. The right to display those images has been revoked on 06/08/2010, and after multiple direct requests, your client refuses to comply. Your client had been initially authorized on 06/07/2010 to linkback and credit the photographs. Because of failure to properly do so, the privilege to display images has been revoked. In addition, your client was never authorized to copy and host the material, which he has at the following location: http://animalnewyork.com/2010/06/demonstrators-crusade-against-terrorist-memorial-near-ground-zero/

I respectfully request that you take appropriate action to discontinue availability and abuse of my photographs as well as taking appropriate action in reference to breaking your copyright agreement as per your policy.
