Grizz From 30 Rock Pitching A Comedy Based On Bronx Comic Book Store

November 3, 2014 | Prachi Gupta

Grizz Chapman, one of Tracy Morgan’s two-man posse on 30 Rock, is pitching a TV show based on a comic book store in the Bronx.

DNAinfo reports that Chapman’s dream is to bring the “kooky characters” and nerdom of the Liar, a comic book store that he’s part-owned for a few years, to the mainstream.

He mentioned that he was pitching a show to an unnamed network in an interview with ComicBook.com in 2012, but it’s not clear if this is the show he was talking about or not. Still, it seems like Chapman has been working on the project for a while — he’s already got Orange is the New Black star Laura Gómez (Blanca Flores) signed onto the project.

Before you start fantasizing about a Grizz-style Jay and Silent Bob adventure, though, think again: Chapman says he’s going for a Big Bang Theory-vibe that appeals to the mainstream and makes it cool to be a nerd. “It’s actually cool to be a nerd,” he told DNAinfo. “I’m the biggest nerd you know. I’m a nerd, I’m a techie and I don’t have a problem with saying it.”

If that plan doesn’t pan out, he’d also settle for a web series.
