Hi-Art Launches New Sticker Emojis Drawn By Artists

June 19, 2014 | Sophie Weiner

Digital sticker brand Hi-Art are launching their new app today, which will feature a ton of free “sticker” emojis designed by CLAW, Ron English, Ghostface Killah and many others. Founder and CEO Nico Dios , who was part of the New York grafitti crew Irak, writes:

Today’s youth are not represented properly by cute bears, chickens, or anime cartoons. Having grown up in and around the people and scenes driving cultural trends and movements like music, art, graffiti, and skateboarding, we felt uniquely positioned to add what was lacking in the space. Stickers are the next wave of emojis and emoticons.

There are currently more than 1,000 stickers available through Hi-Art’s app. About 60% of the stickers that will be released are free, while specific packs will cost between $0.99 and $1.99. The app allows you to inject these tiny images into your text messages via their interface. Unlike regular in-messenger emojis, these are larger in size, with more complex imagery and creative potential.

There’s a free launch party tonight for the app, with music and works by VIZIE, Grotesk, Greg Lamarche, and others on display. RSVP for the party here.
