NYPD arrested a young teen in Brooklyn on Thursday in what has to be landmark case — he is accused of making threats against police via emoji. Osiris Aristy, 17, posted a series of emojis on his Facebook back in December that featured a cop with two guns pointed at it’s head and according to a criminal complaint, this “caused New York City police to fear for their safety.”
When the authorities arrived at Aristy’s apartment on Wyckoff Avenue they also found a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun and more than 25 grams of pot. The discovery came as a surprise to no one because Aristy is so fond of over-sharing that according to the police he recently posted “a picture of himself with a handgun and blunt in his waistband.”
According to the complaint he also posted similar set of emojis on a post with the words “Fuck the 83 104 79 98 73 PCTKKKK.” Presumably that translates to, “fuck several specific precincts” and appends a string of Ks that go just one letter longer than KKK.
The court hearing for this young man will most likely be priceless.
