City Reviewing Business Relationships With Donald Trump

July 2, 2015 | Liam Mathews

Donald Trump probably secretly regrets saying racist shit about Mexicans while announcing his candidacy for President. He would never admit it, and he’s even doubled down on his comments, saying “somebody’s doing the raping” on CNN last night, but off camera he’s probably like “I wish I hadn’t said that.” He is a textbook asshole, and one textbook asshole behavior is to never admit when you’re wrong. Even if Donald Trump still believes in his heart that Mexicans are rapists, making that claim can’t be worth all the trouble it’s caused him. A bunch of his partners have already pulled out of the Trump business (the most recent is mattress company Serta, which manufactured Trump-branded mattresses for some reason), and now the City of New York is reviewing its relationships with his organization, including the Trump Ferry Point golf course in the Bronx.

Karen Hinton, a spokeswoman for the mayor, told AM New York that a review of the City’s business relationships with Trump, which include two skating rinks and a carousel in Central Park in addition to the taxpayer-funded golf course, is underway.

City lawmakers are not onboard with The Donald anymore:

Councilman Andy Cohen said, “Despite his successes and maybe his contributions, I’m not sure that there’s any place for a partnership in New York City government and Donald Trump anymore.” Cohen added, “I cannot say that I’m particularly proud that his name is on that golf course.”

State Sen. Gustavo Rivera said, “I commend Univision. I commend NBC. I commend Macy’s. Who’s next? I think all ties with this person should be severed.”

There are a number of wonderful anti-Trump petitions on Change.org, including Welcome2theBronx’s plea for cancelation of Trump’s city contract for the golf course and one called “Rename the Donald J. Trump State Park to…anything else.” May we suggest Clownface Von Fuckstick State Park?

ANIMAL reached out to The Trust for Public Land for comment on the petition.
