Now You Can Use Bitcoins to Buy Anything You Want

March 11, 2013 | Andy Cush

Bitcoins are the next best thing to using cash on the internet: totally anonymous and tied to no central bank, the digital currency allows for peer-to-peer transactions across the web without the possibility of being identified. In the past, uses for Bitcoins have been somewhat limited: web properties like WordPress and Reddit accept it as payment, as do specialized sites like Bitmit (eBay for Bitcoin) and Silk Road (drugs and stuff!).

But what if you’d like to purchase goods on more mainstream markets with the safety afforded by the currency? Bitspend, a service that launched today, allows users to buy whatever they’d like using Bitcoins, from any online retailer. The company has anonymity covered on the shipping side as well, having all packages sent to a central warehouse before they’re delivered to customers, then immediately wiping all address data.

This means that not only will you be able to make any particularly shameful purchases without fear of being found out, but you’ll also never have to worry about being added to any database of shoppers after buying.

Here’s a Reddit thread in which Bitspend’s creators go into detail about the service.
