U.S. Senator Drums Up “Drone” Fears

August 4, 2014 | Bucky Turco

Senator Chuck Schumer, a U.S. Senator and nanny-state advocate who holds lots of press conferences, is calling for swift, federal regulation of flying cameras. “The use of small drones for commercial purposes have reached new heights,” said Schumer. “Some might even say that New York City is the Wild West of drones.” Yeehaw!

Although the politician did admit that remote controlled drones “can do a lot of good,” he reckons they’re also being deployed by private investigators. “Until clear, smart regulations are put in place by the federal government, they will continue to threaten the privacy and safety of New Yorkers,” said Schumer.

And that’s not the only bad thing these outlaws are fixin’ to do with these hovering buzzards. “There’s also reports of drug dealers using drones to deliver illegal drugs. This year a drone was caught flying into a maximum security prison in South Carolina carrying marijuana,” said Schumer and that presumably made him madder than an old wet hen.
