One of the most recognizable logos in punk rock history and, likely, the most prominently tattooed band logo finally got a documentary. MoCA TV — We see you! Good stuff! — shows the history behind its origins in Art of Punk + Black Flag.

Black Flag’s iconic “four bar” logo, loosely based on the concept of a waving flag, as originally designed by renowned artist Raymond Pettibon, played a large role in solidifying the band’s reputation as an artistic force in punk.

There’s so much to say and so much to talk about regarding how effective and how cultural relevant it is, just hear it from Henry Rollins, Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Raymond Pettibon, Flea… Yes, FLEA.

FYI: Raymond Pettibon’s artwork is currently being featured on the High Line’s billboard.
