Bros: The Manhattan Frat-Boy’s Answer to Girls

April 5, 2013 | Andy Cush

I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone rolled out a male-centric parody of your favorite television program of all time, HBO’s Girls. I would have called it Boys, but no matter–24-year-old Manhattanite Anthony DiMieri premiered Bros this week, a show about four former frat-boys and their zany antics on that weird island west of Brooklyn.

The show’s voice falls somewhere between Girls creator Lena Dunham and her executive producer, with most of the laffs brought on by our brotagonists trading insults, just like these guys. The production value is way higher than you’d expect, and while the first episode’s plot is a drag–the boys head to Williamsburg to score with some “hipster” chicks–the show is funnier than it has any right to be. Watch episode one above.
