Caffeinated Toothbrushes Are Coming, Maybe!

May 20, 2013 | Kyle Chayka

Need an extra caffeine jolt in the morning but have no time drink a cup of Joe? Good news. Here’s a recent patent filed by Colgate/Palmolive for a new type of toothbrush equipped with additional substance-dispersing widget embedded into its design, just below the bristles in the “body” of the toothbrush itself.

The patent is not all about about force feeding you caffeine as you brush your teeth.

“The present invention pertains to an oral care implement generally, and more particularly to a toothbrush that releases a chemical into the mouth during use.”

The official patent lists other possible toothbrushing additives as capsaicin and lemon, both in attempts to produce a “tingling sensation” inside the users mouth.
