Designing New York City’s Perfect Subway System

It’s pretty apparent that our city’s current subway system could use a few improvements. Luckily, Andrew Lynch of Vanshookenraggen has created a new and improved subway system that incorporates what’s already there with minimal additions. Behold:

…realistic ideas that could use existing infrastructure better and develop lines that served the growing areas of the city while better connecting the outer boroughs.

The map takes design cues from an older, slightly controversial map designed by Massimo Vignelli from 1972 which was known for sacrificing geographical accuracy in favor of clarity for straphangers everywhere. (Image: Vanshnookenraggen)
