Picasso, Modigliani and Malevich “Models” IRL

May 6, 2013 | Julia Dawidowicz

For her project The Real Life Models, Budapest-based photographer Flora Borsi imagined what the subjects of abstract paintings would have actually looked like if they’d been painted with anatomical precision. She Photoshopped images of herself to recreate models painted by Picasso, Modigliani, Hausner and Malevich, warping her features and proportions down to the last bizarre detail.

If Borsi’s images of the photoshopped “models” standing next to the original paintings seem familiar, that’s because they are: She was inspired by an old photograph of the real life American Gothic couple standing beside the painting that immortalized them.

Thanks for the nightmares, Borsi!
