The graffiti-tagged, ‘Sandy’ themed Swoon mural on the Bowery Wall has been buffed and is in the process of being painted by Maya Hayuk. She’s a Brooklyn artist known for creating elaborate, super colorful murals which “recall views of outer space, traditional Ukrainian crafts, airbrushed manicures, and mandalas,” according to her bio. So, it’s not nearly done. Here’s what it looked like as of Sunday afternoon.

UPDATE: I had the opportunity to speak with Hayuk on Sunday and she said it’s going to take a few more days. She’s also not too concerned about it getting bombed and appears to have a nothing-is-permanent, Buddhist philosophy about the nature of public murals and the graffiti writers who tag them.
