Hundreds Protest Ferguson Decision In NYC

After it was announced that a St. Louis County grand jury would not indict Darren Wilson, a white police officer, in the fatal shooting of Mike Brown, an unarmed black teenager, protests erupted in Ferguson and all across the country. Hundreds of people demonstrated on the streets of New York City, voicing their disapproval of the decision.

Protesters marched from Union Square to Times Square — where Police Commissioner Bill Bratton was sprayed with fake blood — and up to Harlem.

Amongst the crowd was hip-hop icon Q-Tip, who lead a march, chanting: “Whose streets, our streets.”

Other groups of protesters shut down roadways on the Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Triborough Bridges. Some staged sit-ins, others blocked traffic.

Protests continued throughout the night and apart from the guy who was taken into custody for splattering the fake blood on Bratton, “the city police had no reports of other arrests before midnight Monday,” according to the New York Post.
