Listen In: Chaos Destroy Made You a Playlist

07.30.13 Andy Cush

Listen In” is a weekly feature in which we ask musicians to curate a mixtape-length YouTube playlist of songs they’re currently digging.

Today’s “Listen In,” from the Maryland noise/punk band Chaos Destroy, makes great use of YouTube as a medium. In addition to tracks from the likes of Slint, Morrissey, and Arab on Radar, the mix also incorporates some of the archival videos and amateur-made weirdness that make the video-sharing service such a strange, beautiful thing (including, coincidentally, some 1986 footage of dancehall hero Cutty Ranks uploaded by ANIMAL founder Bucky Turco).

Get Lightning Strikes Twice, Chaos Destroy’s raw-as-fuck, oddly beautiful second album here, and listen to a few samples on SoundCloud.
