Animal rights activists released undercover video from a major pig supplier that appears to show rampant abuse at the facility. Mercy for Animals captured the horrific footage from Iowa Select Farms and it’s forcing a few grocers to reconsider buying products from the cruel company.
If you were as disturbed as we were by the sight of a starved 1-year-old puppy thrown down a trash chute in Newark, then you’ll want to make animal abuse a felony too.
Republican Florida Senator Jim Norman recently introduced a bill to make shooting photographs, videos and all other “pictorial records” of farms without owner’s permission a first degree felony. The bill is less likely aimed at thwarting your pastoral photography jaunts through the American Farmland and more set at preventing those pesky animal rights people from documenting abuse. S.B. 1246 is unconstitutional, so don’t worry about it. Oh wait, do.

What’s up with Grant Houses in Harlem? For the third time this year, a resident from those projects was videotaped abusing their dogs. Here is footage from the latest incident that eventually led to the arrest of Carlos Baez for animal cruelty. And rightly so. Besides, where’s the fun in beating such a small dog? Man up!
Researchers are getting closer to creating a fully remote controlled spy insect, thanks to funding from DARPA, the research and development arm of the Department of Defense. Using radio-controlled electrodes attached to the bug’s brain, scientists are able to “overtake the beetle’s freewill about where it wants to go,” opening up the possibility of using the robo-bug for all types of dangerous military reconnaissance work. In honor of the Philadelphia Eagles’ latest recruit, local graffiti artists painted this mural showing Michael Vick dominating his new rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.
