CW11 Foolishly Files Copyright Claim for April Fool’s Video

On April Fools Day, Improv Everywhere, a well known prank group, posted a fake video of members crashing a funeral which fooled plenty of people who thought it was real, including CW 11. Clearly embarrassed, the television network filed a copyright claim with YouTube to take down video of their flub, ignoring the fact that they aired Improv Everywhere’s footage without permission. Charlie Todd of IE asks, “It’s “fair use” for the news to take a video off of YouTube and broadcast it, but it’s not “fair use” for a citizen to expose their poor reporting on his own content?” Don’t worry though, the video is still hosted elsewhere so have another laugh at CW 11′s fact checking failure. |Improv Everywhere via Boing Boing|
