Following up on that genuinely clever, pointed, pixelated Cardinal Sin bust roosting amongst 18th-century art at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, Banksy has just uploaded a new sculpture entitled Fallen Solider. It’s a classic Roman warrior who fell (ah, like the Roman Empire) on the wet floor, see sign (’cause it’s modern times! I get it!). A little on the nose, ey?
This new Banksy sculpture was just unveiled at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Entitled Cardinal Sin, the 18th-century style, tile-pixelated bust is a precise, minimalist jab at molestation cover-up ordained by the Vatican. Yet, to make things a bit more direct, it’s signed by the artist: “The statue? I guess you could call it a Christmas present. At this time of year it’s easy to forget the true meaning of Christianity – the lies, the corruption, the abuse… I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one.” Read more »
Photographer Kim Guthrie plays on the idea of Banksy’s alleged anonymity and seasoned pop culture status by photographing all sorts of young’uns, old’uns, older’uns in “I’m Banksy” t-shirts. Kiwi Police Now Recruiting With Banksy-ish “Street Art”
The New Zealand police force wants to recruit “edgy,” “culturally aware and savvy” young people, so they paid a street artist to create a series of ads with Banksy-esque style stencils. Spraypainting in broad daylight with cops’ blessings? Whaaa? Naturally, this one got tagged, days after appearing. Read more »
Banksy Got Tapped

Yeah, “Brinngg! Brinngg!” you too. Here’s Banksy’s newest piece on tap phoning, erm, phone taping, erm, who the hell knows what’s going on, right? It’s not the first street art response to the News of the World phone-hacking fiasco, but it’s definitely the only one anyone is scrambling to find, board up and protect.
