Having graffiti writers draw on NYC subway maps isn’t all that original and has been done countless times, all of which we’ve dutifully covered, but there’s still something appealing about them. So, here’s some of the latest additions by storied bombers to Dirty Pilot’s ‘Map Quest’ exhibit. They’re almost guaranteed to turn a profit.
Over 140,000 people swarmed Las Vegas to attend CES and 50 Cent was among them. After seeing how Dr. Dre got over with his costly headphones, the rap mogul decided to release a pair of his own. Although no official price has been set, they’re expected to retail for about $350 a pop according to RealTalkNY. Watch a video of the announcement below: Read more »
As we’ve said many times before, when graffiti—and especially street art—is removed from it primary element it often loses it’s sexy edginess, but there are exceptions to the rule as demonstrated by legendary Bronx bomber writer, CES. The artist was commissioned by furniture designer Douglas Homer to paint “vintage highboys,” transforming them into one of a kind of pieces. Here’s the art speak description of the project that aims to combine elements of new and old: “This pairing of conflicting cultural and stylistic languages helps to resuscitate both the object and the image, giving them new life. While the object becomes a new architectural support on which the tag can exist, the painted word breathes new life into the used furniture.” Click below for another piece from the BronxProject (PDF brochure) collection, complete with close-ups.

Usually it’s Tats Cru that gets assignments likes this, but instead, graffiti legends CES, EZO, and DR.REVOLT were recruited to create some “edgy” ads for Max Payne, a new video game inspired movie starring Mark Wahlberg—who looks awfully strange in aerosol form. The billboards—a far cry from the insane talent these guys usually display—were painted in the LES, East Harlem, and the East Village.
