UTAH Is Free…To Release Photos, Discuss Graffiti

After surviving the veganless hell that was Rikers Island and doing another six months in Boston, Danielle Bremner aka UTAH aka the globetrotting female graffiti writer who wreaked international havoc is FREE! CLAW asked her a bunch of questions about graffiti, jail, and her future plans, like blogging! Now that she can proudly show off and take credit for all her exploits, it was inevitable. |Blogue|

Former vandal, fashion person, and all around rabble-rouser, CLAW, has a spiffy new website design. The customized social networking icons and Bloomingdales rip is a nice touch. Go see. |ClawMoney|

Rikers Forces Graffiti Writer To Eat Like a Bird

A word of warning to vegan graffiti writers: don’t get caught in New York City. Graffiti bomber turned designer CLAW paid a friendly visit to UTAH, who is recently incarcerated on Riker’s Island, and twitters: “She said it’s not so bad, like a ghetto sleepaway camp. Suave shamps. She is starving b/c she is vegan. No tempeh on the island apparently.” According to the Department of Corrections, inmates with special dietary needs have to go to the clinic and get the nutrionist to issue a special id card. Apparently that’s easier said than done. Read more »

CLAW ‘Sprays It’ At Bushwick Gallery

Tomorrow night, CLAW, the famed graffiti bomber turned fashion designer, opens “Spray It, Don’t Say It,” a solo show of her aerosol art at Eastern District in Bushwick. The exhibit opens from 7 to 10 tomorrow through May 12th at 43 Bogart Street. Get there early enough and enjoy the vodka courtesy of hallucination inducing Belvedere.

Graffiti ‘Queens Arrive’ In Williamsburg

Women have always been at the forefront of graffiti, but as is in most male-dominated endeavors, don’t always get the credit they deserve. Tomorrow night they’re front and center: “Queens Arrive,” a group show curated by Indie 184, opens at McCaig Welles Gallery in Williamsburg. Featuring some of the best female artists with roots in graffiti like ACET, CLAW, FAFI, and SILOETTE, the show promises to “showcase their intricate styles and personalities; bringing a refreshing perspective to the graffiti and street art gallery scene.” The show opens at 7 PM tomorrow and will be on view through May 4th at 129 Roebling Street.

CLAW Seconds Art Critic’s Take On WK Interact

This hand written criticism of street artist WK Interact was scrawled right onto one of his public pieces. Not one to hold her tongue, CLAW decided to chime in and agree. As did the flickr user who posted it and a commenter. Now’s your chance. At least no one bombed it like they did his soldiers.

“Come Correct” Tonight

Celebrated vandal and fellow hater of Peter Vallone Jr., COPE2, curated a graffiti-esque exhibit featuring the works of himself, CLAW, FAFI, INDIE, KAWS, T-KID, and WEST. It opens tonight (7-10pm) at Toy Tokyo’s Showroom Gallery in Manhattan and runs through April 10. You have to RSVP, but considering the roster and the relatively small space, unless you know someone, you’ll most likely be standing out on 2nd avenue with the vandal squad.

Claw Site Gets Revamped

Here’s some delightful news for graffiti and streetwear fans alike. Retired vandal and full time designer CLAW Money redesigned her website. She’s long abandoned the flash-y bullshit, moving ahead went with a much simpler and cleaner everything instead. Check it out and her new collection, including stuff for the babies. |ClawMoney|

CLAW Dropped ‘Bombshell’ On Paris

Last week CLAW headed over to the City of Love to promote her self-styled masterpiece: Bombshell. Colette offered the legendary vandal turned designer the front window display and she happily bombed it. See more of CLAW’s beautification process over here.
