Hipster Grifter’s Judgment Day, Gets 9 Months

ANIMAL prison penpal and internet sensation Kari Ferrell wrote us recently, and said she was being sentenced on October 9th. And this time she wasn’t even lying. We contacted the Salt Lake City Correctional Facility and an official told us that she did appear before the judge and a warrant for the forgery charge has been released, but another forgery and issuing bad checks charge was still pending, so it’s likely that she’ll still have to serve a few months. Cake! Update: Make that 9 months, a $1,000 fine and $4,194 in restitution.

The Hipster Grifter’s Jailhouse Interview

ABC News scored an exclusive interview with ANIMAL model and online sensation, Kari Ferrell, who is still incarcerated in Salt Lake City and waiting to be sentenced. Despite being locked up, she apparently hasn’t lost her sense of humor or self-esteem. When asked about her upbringing, she described life with her adoptive parents as picture perfect, “I grew up in the in the quintessential middle-class, suburban family. After scoring a free ride back to Utah courtesy of the Salt Lake City Police Department, the “Hipster Grifter” Kari Ferrell was deemed “indigent” by a judge on Tuesday and given a free attorney too. Officially charged with two counts of forgery, this was Ferrell’s first appearance in her former hometown since being extradited from Philadelphia. Her next court date is June 11. |SaltLakeTribune|

Gawker reports that the authorities planned to pick Kari Ferrell up this afternoon and fly her back to face charges for all her forged and back check scams. |Gawker|

Kari Ferrell’s Photo Shoot With Philly Police

kariferrellmug As we reported, internet sensation Kari Ferrell surrendered to authorities in Philadelphia hoping that she’d be quickly extradited back to Salt Lake City and score a free ride across the country. Well not so fast. Her extradition hearing has been set for May 15th, which means she’ll have to hang around the clink for at least another 10 days before a judge even makes a ruling. Bail has been set at $250,000 and the infamously branded Hipster Grifter could be released back into the wild if she can pony up 10% or $25,000. In the meantime, police released the official mug shot, giving this meme, at the very least, another week of life.
