Artwork Hitches Rides On Taxi-Tops

Courtesy of Show Media, a company that sells the advertising space on 1/4 of all the in taxis in New York City, artwork by Chuck Close and Kehinde Wiley will be displayed atop yellow cabs. With the project now in its second year, the art will rove around the city for the month of January and according to reported estimates, is the equivalent of gifting $100k in ad space.

Deitch Projects Beams ‘Black Light’

Shirking the laborious painting process he’s known for, Kehinde Wiley showcases a collection of photographs of young, street fashionable African American men. Developed with the technical expertise of hip hop video director Hype Williams, “Black Light” opens at Deitch Projects’ 76 Grand Street space on Thursday night. Accompanying the opening from 6 to 9 PM, PowerHouse will release Wiley’s photo portraits in a by the same title.
