After reading this interview with a rapper who can still, ya know rap, I think it’s safe to say that “Pyrex Pot” Sean Price would not be caught dead in those juvie Jeremy Scott Panda sneakers that Lil Wayne rocks shamelessly.
Before everyone starts writing off these Facebook or Twitter themed sneakers by web designer Gary McKay as online concepts with no legs, be wary. If a sneaker activist can convince Nike to produce a frightfully ugly pair of kicks based on an 80s movie, anything is possible and with the popularity of social networks, almost certain.

Leonardo DiCaprio was robbed for his sneakers while visiting a hilltop temple in Japan. According to Page Six, the culprits were “ugly American tourists” who felt slighted after DiCaprio declined their photo request, pointing to a sign prohibiting photography in the shrine. This week’s “One in 8 Million” New Yorker profile, features Jesse Villanueva who has packed a collection of more than 350 sneakers into his Park Slope apartment. “I keep them in closets. I keep them in containers. I keep them at the store so my wife doesn’t know I have them.” The longtime addict’s penchant for sneakers is only encouraged by his work at Alife Rivington Club where he’s surrounded by Godzilla inspired creations and other collectibles. |NYT|
