Coming Soon: Deadlier, Wireless Stun Guns

Since stun guns and tasers are clearly not frightening enough in their current form, the Pentagon is developing a version of their own. The nanosecond electrical pulse (nsEP) project is being coordinated by their Joint Nonlethal Weapons Directorate and unlike previous incarnations, theirs will be wireless, longer lasting, and can be adapted for short or medium-range incapacitation. This is probably not good for America’s enemies or future protesters alike. |Sphere|

So the company that makes the notorious Taser that police officers across the U.S. have been abusing steadily for years now, just announced that it might not be a good idea to shoot the weapon at a suspect’s chest, it could kill them. |USAToday|

Britain Toying With Shocking New Shotgun

The British Home Office is considering arming officers with taser shotguns, capable of doling out incapacitating electric shocks from nearly 100 feet away. This would offer English and Welsh police the convenience of killing disturbed individuals standing on even higher ledges and taking down non-violent concertgoers without getting close to their naked bits. Naturally, Amnesty International has serious concerns about the use of this terrifying weapon. |The Sun|

Naked Wizard’s MySpace Reveal: He Likes To Play With Fire

Details continue emerging about last weekend’s violent takedown of the Naked Wizard at Coachella music festival, like his real name, Johnathan Felch. Newspapers report that of the three cops who dragged the 23-year-old into custody, the officer who tasered Felch repeatedly is from the Banning Police Department. The two Indio police officers were the ones who couldn’t get handcuffs on the Naked Wizard while they pinned him to the ground. And although it’s not acknowledged in reports, those two were also the ones who gave Felch a brutal knee drop in his chest, just before they let go of him to jump up and be tasered over and over again. Police Defend Their Right To Shock Naked Wizard

Earlier today, the Indio Police Department defended their officers who tasered the Naked Wizard at the Coachella music festival over the weekend. According to police spokesman Ben Guitron, the naked man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and due to the crowd size, using a taser “was the best way to subdue him and take him.” Because he didn’t think tasering a naked man was “significant,” Guitron did not share the incident with media earlier, which makes us wonder whether these type of shenanigans happen so often in Indio that they’re not worth mentioning. As if the video wasn’t disturbing enough, here’s some equally shocking photographs of Indio police unmercifully dragging Coachella’s most entertaining act, the Naked Wizard, into custody. Cops Tase Stubborn Naked Wizard at Coachella

Among the many performances at the Coachella music festival, there was one act more disturbing and brutal than the rest. As hundreds of music fans looked on, three police officers beat down and repeatedly tasered a Naked Wizard who apparently wasn’t eager to throw a robe over his magic wand. Though we shouldn’t have to warn you, the video may not be safe for work. Related: Photos of the Naked Wizard Getting Brutalized and Naked Wizard’s MySpace Reveal: He Likes To Play With Fire

The NYPD Is Bound To Make the Taser Deadly

“Now you’ll have 50 cops tasing one person at the same time. They are saying that it is some sort of safer alternative to a gun, but this is no such thing. The Taser is still a deadly weapon.” |NAM|
